What we do
The Whistler Adaptive Sports Program provides the opportunity for hundreds of people with a wide range of disabilities to take part in sports and recreation programs along side any other Canadian, with a sense of adventure and the feeling of well-being that comes from immersing oneself in Whistler's world class recreational opportunities.
How we do it
In the winter, the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program partners with Scotiabank, Whistler-Blackcomb and other sponsors to provide Skiing and Scotiabank Learn to Ride lessons. WASP delivers lessons to individuals of all ages, from local beginners to international groups and advanced recreational skiers and snowboarders needing only a guide. WASP also provide sit-ski rentals and lessons for those who wish to experience Nordic sports. WASP is affiliated with the Disabled Skiers Association of British Columbia, a not for profit organization, as a member Zone.
In the summer, the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program partners with local businesses: Access Sea To Sky to provide hand-cycle rentals and Captain Holiday's Kayak Adventures to provide White-Water and Flat-Water Kayaking and canoeing programs. WASP also offers hiking and trail rider programs in the local area. The Whistler Community Foundation, the Resort Municipality of Whistler and Scotiabank all generously support our efforts to move to a four season program.
