WASP launches the Adaptive Alpine Race Program for 2009-10

We are gearing up for a great winter – and with lots of fresh snow and the most accumulation in history for November here in Whistler our thoughts have turned to the launch  of the Adaptive Alpine Race Program for 2009-10.

I want to take a moment to introduce you all to Mark Anderson – our new coach.  Mark has a great coaching background and I believe that he will be a great asset to our race program. Mark is a former competitor at the National Level and has coached extensively at all levels from Kinder to Masters.  Mark will do, I am sure, a much better job at introducing himself than I can!

Mark will be assisted by our new volunteer coach – Cynthia Mitchell.  Cynthia is a former Australian Para-Alpine Ski Team member and has worked and trained at the National Sport Centre for the Disabled in Winter Park, Colorado.  Welcome to Whistler Cynthia!

Mark will be coaching our Thursday training days as well as some of the selected camps that we are in the process of planning for this year.  A schedule of training dates will be circulated early next week.

In the meantime, we wanted to get the season off to a bang and will be training on Dec. 3rd.  The day will consist of some skills development and assessment with Mark and Cynthia, as well as an orientation session from 5 to 7pm (location TBD) with Diana Rochon – Athlete Services Coordinator at the Canadian Sport Centre Pacific.

Please register with us by Monday, Nov. 30th for this training day.
Training Day details/meeting location will follow once you have registered.
