Unique approach to autism insurance
Unique, Heath Lambert's specialist insurance scheme designed for people living with pre-existing medical conditions, has teamed up with The National Autistic Society (NAS) to provide travel and life insurance cover for those living with the condition, as well as their families, carers and supporters.
There are over half a million people in the UK with autism, and the condition affects each person in a different way. Some people with autism are able to live relatively 'everyday' lives while others require a lifetime of support so it is important that insurance policies are specialist enough to cover each individual. In an industry first, Unique has arranged for autism to be treated as a disability as opposed to a medical condition, which will significantly reduce the cost of cover in many cases.
