Para-Snowboard

Adaptive snowboarding gets a new name: Para-Snowboarding

The WSF and the IPC have collaborated in a series of spring meetings to accelerate the inclusion of snowboarding into the Paralympic Winter programme. As a result of the partnership, what was know as “Adaptive Snowboarding” will now be called “Para-Snowboarding”.

Canada’s Danny’s Buntain will play a key role in the collaboration and has moved to Europe to manage Para-Snowboarding at the international level. Her new title at the WSF says it all: Chairperson, Para-Snowboard Sport Technical Committee. Congratulations Danny!

IPC and WSF sign a Memorandum of Understanding

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the World Snowboard Federation (WSF) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to co-operate during the 2010-2011 season to further develop the sport of Para-Snowboard.

The MoU covers several areas around management, competition co-ordination, development and certification of officials and classifiers as well as media and communications.

The MoU also contemplates the possibility to extend this co-operation until the 2013-2014 season.
