Mini cheeseburgers and charity
When most young guys meet at midnight once a month without any females around, one would expect to hear talk of hockey scores and powder days — not social capital and donations.
But the members of the Troutsmen International Club of Leisure actually plot ways to better the Whistler community when they gather for midnight meetings.
It started out as more of a gentlemen’s club a few years ago — a good excuse to get together and throw some parties — but it grew into a non-profit organization that has raised money for local leisurely activities in Whistler.
“Everyone is busy and you don’t see your friends, so we would do the parties. Then we started fundraising,” said Rich Glass, a member of the Troutsmen Club.
